About BridgePoint
BridgePoint Center for Eating Disorder Recovery is Saskatchewan’s provincial eating disorder recovery resource. We provide free programs and services for Saskatchewan residents experiencing eating disorders and disordered eating, as well as their caregivers.
BridgePoint takes a holistic approach grounded in a biopsychosocial and stepped-care model. Our services include onsite programming in Milden, individual and group services from our Saskatoon office, and virtual programming throughout Saskatchewan.
Our work is participant-centred, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, weight-inclusive and grounded in non-diet approaches. BridgePoint’s Milden location offers Saskatchewan’s only community-based residential eating disorder recovery program and provides a unique setting for discovery, recovery and healing.
About the Role
The Clinical Counsellor will provide individual and group counselling to people affected by eating disorders and disordered eating. Depending on program needs, the role may also include counselling and support for youth, caregivers and families.
The successful candidate will work directly with participants to support meaningful changes in eating disorder behaviours, strengthen capacities for recovery and encourage continued personal development.
As a member of BridgePoint’s multi-disciplinary team, the Clinical Counsellor will contribute to coordinated and accessible services delivered virtually from the Saskatoon office and onsite in Milden during scheduled programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual counselling virtually and in person;
- Facilitate therapeutic groups, workshops and recovery-focused programming;
- Complete clinical assessments and develop collaborative counselling and support plans;
- Help participants establish and work toward meaningful recovery goals;
- Provide counselling and support to caregivers and families, where appropriate;
- Coordinate services with BridgePoint team members and external care providers, with participant consent;
- Identify when participant needs fall outside BridgePoint’s scope and support appropriate referrals or transitions;
- Maintain timely, accurate and confidential clinical documentation;
- Participate in clinical consultation, case discussions and interdisciplinary team meetings;
- Provide clinical supervision, consultation or mentorship to team members or practicum students, depending on qualifications and organizational needs;
- Contribute to clinical policies, program development and resource creation;
- Participate in program evaluation and continuous quality improvement;
- Maintain professional, ethical, privacy and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- A master’s degree in social work, psychology, counselling or another relevant clinical discipline;
- Current registration, in good standing, or eligibility for registration, with the appropriate professional regulatory body or association for the candidate's clinical discipline, as applicable.
- Experience providing individual clinical counselling and developing and facilitating therapeutic or psychoeducational groups;
- Knowledge of eating disorders, disordered eating and recovery-oriented care;
- Alignment with trauma-informed, participant-centred, weight-inclusive and non-diet approaches;
- Strong clinical assessment, counselling, facilitation and relationship-building skills;
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, computer, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
- Strong organization and an ability to prioritize clinical and administrative responsibilities;
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to an interdisciplinary team;
- An inclusive and culturally responsive approach to supporting people from diverse backgrounds, identities and communities;
- Superior professional ethics, integrity and respect for participant confidentiality;
- A satisfactory criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check;
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification; and
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
Preferred Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- A minimum of five-ten years of post-graduate clinical counselling experience;
- Direct experience providing care to people affected by eating disorders or disordered eating;
- Experience providing clinical supervision, consultation or mentorship;
- Experience supporting youth, caregivers and families;
- Experience developing and facilitating programs, workshops or presentations;
- Training in relevant evidence-informed therapeutic approaches;
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan’s health and community-service systems;
- Experience working within nonprofit, community-based or stepped-care settings.
